My good friend Nancy, who decided last year to go back to work even though I begged and pleaded her not to (love ya!), is off on Fridays and so this summer we've had some really fun times taking the kids places and enjoying the warm weather. We were ready for something a little different and thought "let's go on the new light rail to the city!", which really is kind of dorky since her house is in St. Paul. We knew it would be fun for the kids and we see it around the cities all the time, so we ventured out! We had to laugh when we got to the station and our first destination, Minnehaha Falls, was only 2 stops down. It took us longer to figure out how to use the very automated ticket machine than to ride the train! So we decided that when we were finished at the falls, we would ride into Minneapolis and explore the city on a beautiful afternoon.
All aboard!
One of our favorite spots in Minnesota:
While playing beside the river, Casey's soccer ball went in and actually went over the falls, so she daringly climbed up the side and retrieved it!
Heading into the city, and this city certainly loves it's sports teams!

I think Minneapolis is one of the prettiest cities and easy to navigate. It's full of skyways that connect the buildings, which makes it possible to get around in the winter. You can spend hours exploring the skyways and shops that are all connected.
The famous Mary Tyler Moore statue; and yes, we were dorks.
You can't see it in this photo, but there is water that pours from the ceiling into this fountain. This is the IDS building and one of my favorites - Basil's is one of our fave restaurants too (in the balcony area).

OHHH I love mary tyler moore!!!!
That looks like a very fun day! Riding the lightrail to DC is always my kids favorite part of the day! You just needed a hat to throw into the air in the Mary Tyler Moore picture! so fun!
Love the pictures. Minn is beautiful. Ihad to enlarge the picture of the river. At first thought there was a gator in there, but was sure a gator would not like such cold water. Looks like lots of fun.
Nana, I still have to remind myself that there aren't gators in our waters. I don't think that instinct ever leaves a Florida girl!
