Happy 25th Anniversary!

It's hard to believe that 25 years have passed since Cary and I were married. We were just kids back then, but we loved each other and knew that we were meant to be, even just after 3 months!  We celebrated by going on a cruise, one of our favorite ways to vacation.  It was hard for me to leave the kids and I had a few tears, but once I was on the ship, I left it all behind and really soaked in our time together.  You don't realize how much goes on in everyday life until you step away from it.  And a cruise really forces that, since you are "unplugged" from everything. We spent our days at sea by the pool, reading, swimming and relaxing. At one point while we had our chairs facing the ocean up on deck, I said to Cary "I've been looking and watching for dolphins, but nothing! I really want to see some.  About 3 minutes later, a pod of around 30 or 40 started feeding and I couldn't believe it.  I didn't have my camera, but it was just so beautiful. And crazy timing!

We took time one evening, when it was just the two of us to read vows that we had each written to each other.  I wanted something very private, and it was a beautiful time together of honoring our love and commitment to each other and our family.

A big thanks to Nana who came up and drove the kids everywhere, did homework, a few school projects and fed them all!

A beautiful view of Miami.  We left out of this port 25 years ago on our honeymoon :)

Cary surprised me (again!) with roses in our room

We got much use out of our great balcony space.  One of our favorite things is having a private space to watch the ship go in and out of ports.

The Grand Buffet! I seriously took about a hundred pictures because it's just incredibly beautiful.  You can't see in this pic, but this is only about half of it!

This pic is for Heather.... (and I love the ship passing in the background)

We learned quite a bit at the wine tasting event we attended with our new friends, Stu and Nim.  Nim is from Thailand and they've been married 32 years.  We had a great time each evening having dinner and going to a show with this couple!

We had an awesome time with our new friends we met at the dinner table.  Florence and Joe, on the ends, are from Boca Raton, and kept us highly entertained with Flo's stories and Joe's edgy attitude.  There are Nim and Stu on the left, from New York, and then Josh and Crystal, from Minnesota.  Next to me are Chris and Barb from Yorkshire, England.  I so enjoyed getting to know Barb and will look them up when we make it to London in the future.  We had great conversation and so many laughs every evening.

We ended up going to Nassau instead of Grand Cayman due to the hurricane.  We didn't even know there was a hurricane (gotta love being on a ship where there's very little news!).  It's so nice that they can reroute the ships and so we enjoyed more great weather in the Bahamas.

Due to the hurricane, 8 ships were in port at Nassau and it was quite a sight to see so many in one place.

Sting rays!

Visiting the gorgeous Atlantis hotel

Someone borrowed our yacht with our three jet skis on the front and I would greatly appreciate them returning it very soon.

After going to a small island in the morning, we rented a scooter and went over to the Atlantis and toured around Nassau.  We had so much fun!

We discovered this beach, which I honestly think is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been too.  The water was crystal clear, the sand just sank beneath your feet and the color was gorgeous.  The name is Cabbage Beach, it's not easy to find, but sooooo worth it.

Oh, we are styyyyling now.

Back in Miami early in the morning.  I always think this is such a pretty time of morning when the ships are coming in and you wake up and open the curtains and see this.

Fall

Cary and I made over a few areas in the backyard this fall.  One of them was this corner and boy, did it take ALOT of dirt!  I think it will fill in nicely for next year - it's full of perennials and plants to attract the birds.

Cary pulled out a hedge that ran around the patio that had become overgrown, and I planted perennials that should bloom from spring through fall.

Our garden helper :)

We attended Casey's soccer banquet and it was very exciting to see her win awards for Fastest Runner and Best Hustle.  Most of the girls have played serious soccer their whole lives and Casey just started playing in the last few years.  She's a great team player and athlete!

Full hands!

Austin has done a fabulous job of transitioning to his new school, St. Croix Prep Academy in Stillwater.  He is not in band anymore but has joined choir, and their boys choir sounds fantastic!
